As Bill Cosby faces up to 10 years for his alleged sexual assault against former Temple Basketball player Andrea Constand, his deposition from 2004 for the rape of Ms. Constand was read aloud in court this weekend.
“I’m apologizing because this is a dirty old man with a young girl,” Cosby said, later clarifying, "my apology was I’m in trouble with these people and I’m an old man and this is their young daughter... Andrea and I had sex and now Andrea was very upset."
During the night in question, Cosby has confirmed that he gave Constand at least two Benadryl pills, which she says made her very sleepy. She then claims that Cosby molested her as she lay passed out on the couch. Because of Pennsylvania's 12-year duration on its statute of limitations for sex crimes, this is the only instance where Cosby could face criminal charges amongst a sea of other accusations. Over 60 women have alleged that Cosby has sexually assaulted them, but the statute for criminal proceedings has expired in all the previous jurisdictions.
