Jay Z fans have been on high alert over the past couple of days, and for at least a sector of his massive following, signs of his album's imminence are showing up everywhere.

The buzz that a project is in the works was set off by Swizz Beats last month when on Instagram he wrote, “They don’t even know what’s about to happen ... Album ModeZone," in the caption of a photo he posted of he and Jay together.

By mid-day Monday, that buzz had grown exponentially, expanding from Hov conspiracy theorists who began to notice advertisements that simply read, 4:44, popping up on billboards across New York City and online. While most have questioned what the significance of the number might be, others were either already aware of its relation to the Brooklyn rapper or would be made aware by all of the hoopla that has followed.

For their ninth-year anniversary this past April, Jay and Bey each got a four tattooed in roman numerals on their wedding band fingers, as April 4 is the date the power couple were married. And both share the distinction of having their birthdays land on the fourth of the respective months they were born, with Jay Z celebrating on December 4 and Beyonce having come into the world on September 4. Fans took the words "Tidal" and "superhero" showing up in the 4:44 ads as further indication that something is brewing from the Roc Nation boss.

For the record, Jay Z was recently added as a co-headliner for the 2017 Made in America Festival and the Austin City Limits tours. Neither he nor anyone of his official reps has confirmed whether or not they have anything to do with the cryptic 4:44 promotion.
