A picture says a thousand words.

Last week, a group of New Jersey 8th graders opted out of a photograph with House Speaker Paul Ryan at the U.S Capitol. Many of the students cited issues with both Ryan and the Trump administration.

Washington, the traditional destination for many young students around the country, is the place where you can see many lawmakers in action. For a group of 218 South Orange Middle Schoolers, the opportunity arose for a photograph with House Speaker Paul Ryan as he shortly joined them outside the U.S Capitol building.

“Let’s say somebody is not nice to me at school, for example. I wouldn’t take a picture with them, probably,” 13-year-old Matthew told The Washington Post. He and many of the New Jersey students opted not to take the photo, saying Ryan is just mimicking the ideas of Trump. “I don’t like to take a picture with somebody that I can’t associate with,” he said.

Paul Ryan posted a picture of on Instagram on Friday with those students who decided to stick around.
