Odell Beckham Jr. has become the focus of scrutiny this week, with New York headlines putting the Giants receiver on blast for having skipped out on three consecutive OTA [organized team activities] practices. While meeting up for the exercises is not mandatory, there is no denying that anytime a team can get together to start off something fresh and new, it serves as a bonding experience. Coach Ben McAdoo himself put out a statement on Thursday, May 25, that read as a reaction to Beckham having gone missing, along with Olivier Vernon and Owa Odighizuwa.

“You want all your players here, especially the great players,” McAdoo told the press.

On Friday, Beckham took to social media with what appeared to be a response to all of the criticism, and perhaps even a rebuke towards McAdoo. With a retweet from NewsOne's Roland Martin, Beckham shared a message with fans that read, “I’m sick of folks acting like star athletes must always do what a coach asks. McAdoo wants @OBJ_3 at workouts? See ya when it’s mandatory.”

Legendary receiver Chris Carter confirms that Beckham is missing OTAs because he has actually been out on the West Coast receiving some mentorship from him. Carter says that what usually wouldn't be a big deal, is simply being magnified because of Beckham's star power. “With Odell, they go to extremes because it is him,” says Carter. “In 108 days, he will be ready to play against the Dallas Cowboys. Is he with the Giants at OTAs? I don’t care. It’s not my job. My job as a former player is to help young players understand about the business. I’m committed to helping Odell get better. So as far as OTAs, that’s somebody else’s responsibility.”
