Los Angeles Lakers President Magic Johnson thinks Lavar Ball, the father of the trio of potential basketball superstars, deserves credit for his parenting. During a recent interview with ESPN Radio Los Angeles, Johnson compared Ball's unusual approach to marketing his sons to that of Kardashian mom, Kris Jenner.

While discussing the possible decision of choosing UCLA's Lonzo Ball with their No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft, Magic compared Ball's off the wall claims and recent controversies to Kris Jenner's approach with her daughters.

““We didn’t say that the mom was bad, and she made them a lot of money, right?” Johnson said. “She’s bragged on her daughters, and I think it’s the same here...He’s just saying, ‘Hey, my son is great,’ and there’s nothing bad with that. So we’re not looking at LaVar being a problem if we’re blessed to have the opportunity to draft Lonzo.”

According to Magic, Lonzo Ball is expected to workout with the Lakers in a few weeks. While many feel Lavar's antics will place a target on Lonzo's back once he makes it into the league, Magic argues that his decision will be basketball focused and void of parental influence. “I don’t look at any parent when it comes to a professional league, that would be a problem."

The five-time NBA champion believes that as long as Lonzo is not bothered by his father's antics, it won't be an issue. "It’s not going to bother the Laker organization, as long as Lonzo performs on the basketball court."

Should the Lakers choose Lonzo? Let us know in the comments.
