Magic mushrooms have been a hallucinogenic drug that many people have been using for thousands of years, and now, according to a study, they have proven to be one of the safest recreational drugs. The founder of the survey study, Adam Winstock, told The Guardian, "Magic mushrooms are one of the safest drugs in the world." Winstock went on to say, "Death from toxicity is almost unheard of with poisoning with more dangerous fungi being a much greater risk in terms of serious harms." The effects of psychedelic mushrooms can include panic, confusion, and disorientation. However, in the study Winstock conducted on 12,000 people, only 0.2%, needed emergency medical care.

Researchers for the Global Drug Survey noted that meth and synthetic cannabis were the most dangerous drugs. Women who used meth apparently needed medical attention 40 times as frequently as people partaking in magic mushrooms.
