Gucci Mane and Metro Boomin have something big planned.

On May 4, Gucci shocked his fans when he posted a photo with Metro on Instagram teasing a new tape. He wrote, “Metro. Guwop. New Tape🚨 saynomo.”

The 1017 Records boss provided no further details about an actual release date or title for the project, but everyone was immediately intrigued. Four days later, Metro posted the same photo with the caption, “so icey boyz album.” He did not confirm that was the name of the project, but at least it was something to go on at the moment.

In the next few weeks, as fans began begging the duo to drop the tape, Guwop sent a few tweets out to keep everyone in the loop. On May 9, Gucci tweeted, “Metro talking about we need to hold the tape it’s too🔥 ..... #@MetroBoomin Brah drop the tape.” Boomin gave no further hints about the release date and responded to Gucci's tweet with the “smiley face wearing sunglasses” emoji.

On May 10, Gucci again teased the tape. He first replied to a fan, tweeting, “It’s Metro. I told him drop it. Blame him.” He then sent out a separate tweet, “Metro and Gucci about to drop a tape!!!” That racked up 40 thousand likes but did not produce a mixtape.

Things got quiet from there, until yesterday, when Gucci made three posts on Instagram. In the first post, which he deleted, Gucci wrote, “Guwop and Metro tape coming? Sooner than you think...”

In another deleted post, Gucci recapped a dialogue between the two of them. He wrote, “Metro: Ain’t nobody tape this hard bro,” with him responding, “I agree.”

Gucci hinted that it could drop any minute in the last post, which has remained up. He recapped another dialogue, with him saying to Metro, “Bro we should wait they not ready,” and Metro responding, “F*ck it crush em!!!”

With that said, it was only a matter of time until we got some details. Just before 11 AM on Wednesday, Gucci announced that the tape will be called "Drop Top Wop" and will be dropping this Friday, May 26.

The tape will also coincide with the one-year anniversary of his prison release.
