An Ohio teacher who recently took to social media to chastise students, who throughout the year had struggled to finance their schooling only to make grand entrances at their prom, has been placed on administrative leave.

Caitlin Cormack teaches and coaches track at Haskett Middle School in Bedford, where she has apparently fostered a close enough relationship with parents that some of them follow her on Snapchat. Problem is, she's lost a couple of them over the past week or so, ever since she was discovered by the father of a Bedford High School student, to have posted some insulting things about a couple of his child's peers. “I think it’s very disrespectful to the parents,” Bedford HS parent, John Bouldin told local news agency, News 5. “We do pay taxes in this city so that teachers can make a nice salary to do their jobs, not to comment about our kids.”

The comment that Cormack made was a reaction to her seeing two students show up to the Bedford prom in horse and carriage. “These damn kids and parents…not enough money for school supplies or passing grades but out here renting horses,” she wrote, before the Snap disappeared. But Bouldin was able to grab it and went about exposing Cormack to the district superintendent. It is unclear exactly how Bouldin became associated with Cormack, but regardless of how he knows her, he is clear that to his determination, the students and their families come first. “I think it’s very disrespectful to the parents,” he said.

Superintendent Andrea Celico told the press she is "disappointed in what happened," and that while Cormack has shown to be saddened and sorry about the incident, an investigation is underway, with the district taking a look at whether she violated its social media policy, which informs employees that they are to "operate under the expectation that their online statements are publicly viewable,” and that “discussion about individual students…is prohibited."
