It has been announced that Odell Beckham Jr. signed the most lucrative sneaker deal ever offered to a football player, this week. Beckham's agent Zeke Sandhu confirmed the agreement, which was first reported by NiceKicks.com, on Tuesday, May 23, telling ESPN "It was a long process," and that he believes that the signing "proved he's an icon."

According to sources close to his camp, the deal will pay Beckham $5 million per year, over a five-year period. It is reported that the process, as Sandhu pointed out, took so long because Adidas was also putting up bids to secure an agreement with the New York Giants superstar. But when all was said and done Nike was willing to match every offer Adidas put forth, thus for Sandhu and Beckham's mother/business manager Heather Van Norman the end decision was a no-brainer.

With the signing Beckham continues his association with the sneaker company; one which saw him wear a new set of cleats, exclusively customized by designer Troy Cole, for every game of the 2016 season. Nike is said to have big plans for Beckham that promises to raise his profile beyond the football field, with campaigns that lend themselves to sensibilities of the fashion world.
