It looks like Mo'Nique is ready to turn a new leaf with Tyler Perry. The actress/comedian has been on a tear against the industry, speaking out on events that allegedly took place some years back, involving career advice that she didn't appreciate coming from former collaborator Lee Daniels. But her criticism hasn't been limited to Daniels, as she's also called out Oprah and Perry for being gatekeepers who she blames in part for having her "whiteballed." Now it appears that of the three, she may lay off of Perry after he reached out in order to speak with her personally.
It was while performing at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, CA that she'd acknowledge Perry for having spoken with her and her husband. According to Mo'Nique, the conversation took a turn or two as she made sure to let him know that if they were going to talk, it was going to be real talk, but the star producer understood and even gave her a pass to share their discussion on stage. “See, when he called us up and tried to be the billionaire I said ‘N***a, put Madea on the phone, let me speak to that real b**** because you f***ing this up right now, and to that n***a’s credit he got Madea on the motherf***ing phone,” she said.
“When he called up, he said 'I watched your podcast and I saw your pain.' I said n***a that’s not pain, that’s called honesty, don’t get it confused. Then he wanted to start talking to me and my husband like he was a billionaire I said n***a we don’t give a f*** about your money, let’s start talking one-to-one and let’s start talking some real s***,” she then told the crowd.
