Prior to the Billboard Music Awards, Drake made it clear that he had much in store for the award show. Along with what he had planned, the rapper also won 13 awards, managing to set a record in the process. The OVO frontman won awards for Top Male Artist, Top 100 Artist, and more which beat out the 12 awards that Adele won in a night at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Because of a number of awards he won, Future took to Twitter to send a message out to Drake, congratulating the rapper on his major victory. Future said "Congrats to @Drake. Thanks for setting the bar high, love to see u win BIG, most importantly bringing the team on stage showing unity..." Among those awards, Drake won the Billboard Award for Top Artist. He brought many folks on stage, including his father Dennis Graham, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Mack Maine and more.
