Propagandists with allegiance to ISIS celebrated the Ariana Grande concert bombing in Manchester late Monday, May 22, as a statement that credits the terrorist network for the attack circulated the web.

By Monday night the death toll stemming from the tragedy was raised to 22 lives, with an additional 59 people confirmed injured. The carnage that ensued from the blast tearing through the entrance hall of the 21,000-seat Manchester Arena, proved it to be Britain's worst terror attack since 2005. British Prime Minister Theresa May, in fact, called it "the worst attack the city has experienced."

As authorities searched for the remains of what was initially thought to be a suicide bomber, the statement claiming responsibility for ISIS suggested that the act was not executed in martyrdom. "One of the soldiers of the caliphate placed explosive devices in a gathering of crusaders in the middle of the British city of Manchester," the message read, before elaborating that the assault was staged in retaliation against Britain for “transgressions against the lands of the Muslims.” Mention was also made about the bombings being a direct response to recent airstrikes in Iraq.
