The Joe Budden Podcast has got a heater coming on Tuesday night! The self-proclaimed "most successful irrelevant n***a HipHop has ever seen" set it off after a drawn out Twitter exchange he had with Charlamagne Tha God on Thursday, May 18. The rival entertainers got into it about industry politics and when it became clear that they could be tweeting all day, the two decided to bring their debate to the air.

"If we go live y’all (or just u, Andrew is trash) we do it on my s**t, I’ve done [Loud Speaker Network] 90 times.. come to the dark side Author man lol," Joe tweeted, in response to Charlamagne saying he was going to have to get him on the line, as their bickering over the credibility of their respective platforms and roles began to max out.

At the root of their dispute was each defending whether they were beholden to the interests of their corporate employer. The back and forth actually began with the subject of L.A. Reid, who's book and credentials in the music industry Charlamagne has championed. In recent days, Budden has expressed disagreement with the idea that Reid is some great executive, stating in one of his tweets that "He’s in charge of ENTIRE LABELS, NOT JUST ARTISTS…. & he’s failed…. EVERY time…. Breakfast Club is signed #StayWoke." Charlamagne didn't take too well to that last line and thus began to turn the tables on Joe, challenging what grounds he has to stand on when Complex signs his checks. "Complex has what to do with the music industry outside of reporting ?? I’ll wait," Budden would respond.

Before Complex was dragged into their dispute, some time was spent deciphering just how objective Charlamagne could be when he works alongside Angela Yee, who Charlamagne himself admits has label ties. "What that got to do with me tho? I've always had my own opinion and you know this," CTG came back. He then gave an example of how critical he has been of Drake, albeit Power 105.1 has always kept his music in rotation.

It will be interesting to see what other avenues this discussion will turn down, as it is clear that while Charlamagne and Joe Budden respect one another, they've got some questions about what level of integrity each the other operates behind in the matrix.
