Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke is no stranger to controversy, and now the infamous law enforcement officer has accepted a gig with the Department of Homeland Security.

During an interview with a conservative talk radio show, Clarke noted that he will be stepping down as a sheriff to become a deputy secretary under the Trump administration. Clarke said, "I'm both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position by Secretary Kelly, working for the Trump administration." Previously at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February 2017, Clarke gave his support to Trump, saying, "In President Trump, we have chosen a leader. A leader who I expect many of you in this room well know that I both campaigned and vigorously supported for the highest office in this land."

Clarke also supported the executive order on immigration that Trump administration launched. The Department of Homeland Security did not confirm David Clarke's role on their staff, but did say that the position that Clarke is allegedly taking does not need a confirmation from the Senate.
