The judge overseeing Adam "Pacman" Jones' most recent case granted the prosecution's request that his misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct counts be dismissed as a part of a plea agreement, on Tuesday, May 16. As part of the deal, Jones pled guilty to a single charge of obstructing official business and was sentenced to time served.

The long-troubled NFL star has been in and out of court for hearings and remained in the news ever since kicking the new year off on the wrong foot. Back in January Jones went into an alcohol fueled rage and laid hands on a hotel security guard in the Bengals' home city. Several videos have surfaced in the public since, with one showing him badgering and making threats towards one of his arresting officers from the back seat of a police cruiser, and another, which shows him kicking his foot and butting his head forward at officers attempting to restrain him before he spits at a nurse. Most recently the video that provided evidence for the obstructing charge leaked, and shows him calling for a private conversation with the guard he assaulted while an officer goes about explaining that he must arrest him.

For a short while, Jones faced a felony charge for spitting at the nurse, but that charge was dismissed some weeks ago. Municipal Court Judge Dwane Mallory insisted that there was no favoritism for Jones' celebrity in how he ruled over the case, citing Jones' willingness to apologize and begin attending anger-management rehab as the reason for the lenient infraction. "I truly apologize for what I did, my actions," Jones told the court. "I'm trying to get better every day." But while Cincinnati's cornerback may have lucked out in regards to the law, the NFL is expected to hand done some form of punishment for him violating the league's personal conduct policy.
