The Washington Wizards pushed a Game 7 in their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Boston Celtics on the strength of a game-winning 3-point shot from John Wall on Friday night, May 12.

Both teams battled out of the gate and kept a steady pace, pretty much-competing neck, and neck with each other throughout the game. But with their 2017 aspirations in the balance, Washington's hunger to tie up the seven game set would prevail, with Wall and Beal combining for 23 points going down the fourth quarter stretch. They were helped along by the clutch rebounding of the Wizards' secondary players, who outdueled the Celtics on the boards 22-15 in the second half of the game.

Despite a dismal 9-25 shooting performance by Wall, he was able to amass 26 points and 8 rebounds, but his most pivotal contribution had more to do with his big game ability than his consistency throughout the match up. With 3.5 seconds left in the game and his Wizards down by two, Wall shot up the hail Mary over Avery Bradley that splashed for the 92-91 win.

Following the game, Wall had some words for his opponents, who showed up at the Verizon Center dressed in black to signify an anticipated funeral for Washington. “I ain’t going home [for the playoffs]. Don’t come to my city, wearing all black, talking about it’s a funeral," said a triumphant Wall.
