Diddy has once again claimed the top spot on the Forbes list of wealthiest hip-hop artists. 2017 marks the fifth consecutive year the Bad Boy Mogul comes in ahead of the pack, that consistently comprises the likes of Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Birdman, and 50 Cent at its highest ranks.
Forbes released its report on Wednesday, May 10, citing Hov and Dre as the artists filling out the list of hip hop's 3 wealthiest artists, respectively. Birdman placed at a distant fourth with a $110 million fortune, beating out his own artist, Drake, who isn't far behind him with a net value of $90 million. But it is at the top of the list where Forbes calculates the tightest lead, as both Jay Z and Diddy's fortunes grew exponentially over the past year, but Hov just failed to close the gap, coming up $10 million short of Diddy's $820 million net worth.
A big contributor to Diddy's $70 million leap, from what was at $750 million only last year, was the continued success of his Ciroc liquor, and perhaps more notably, the shares he owns in the increasingly productive Revolt TV network. Diddy took on his commitment to a full throttle transition to television last year when he announced that he was coming around to retiring from music to place his focus on a future in TV.
