It has been a mere six months since Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton to become the 45th U.S. President, and he's already started his campaign for reelection .

ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN have all refused to air a 30-second AD pitched to them by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., prompting the administration to charge them with shamefully suppressing support for the Commander-In-Chief:

“Apparently, the mainstream media are champions of the First Amendment only when it serves their own political views,” campaign consultant, and daughter-in-law of the President, Lara Trump wrote in a statement published on the organization's website. She characterized rejection of the AD as an “unprecedented act of censorship in America that should concern every freedom-loving citizen.”

At root in the networks' decision however, is a brief portion of the commercial that shows the images of correspondents from each of the news agencies, behind big red letters that tag them with the word "FAKE NEWS." Up until that point, and from that point on, the AD is fine the agencies say, claiming they've offered to air the slot should it be edited out. “The mainstream media is not fake news, and therefore the ad is false and per policy will be accepted only if that graphic is deleted,” a CNN statement on the matter reads. NBCUniversal and ABC have also cited a violation of their advertising guidelines in their reason for turning the commercial down.
