Although Today Show host Matt Lauer was primarily a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show set, he and his comedic counterpart would switch roles following the show's conventional time slot, and she invited her audience to stay, for what was supposed to be a one on one with Lauer. Thus her fans were surprised with the opportunity to watch Ellen field questions, one hour after asking them.

While a good portion of the interview focused on it being the 20th anniversary of her going public about her sexuality, the question that has gotten all of the buzz came when after inquiring into her relationship with President Donald Trump, Lauer asked whether she's considered having him on her show.

"Um, no," she responded. “Because I’m not gonna change his mind. He’s against everything I stand for.”

Ellen is known to be a true blue Democrat, and a strong supporter of Barack Obama while he was in office. Conversely, she has long been a critic of the current President and poses that while they did do a filming together years ago, she doesn't recall speaking or meeting with him since. Apparently, neither does she intend to.
