On Friday, Snoop Dogg posted an emotional video message to John Ross, a 22-year-old Long Beach native and NFL draftee who will be playing running back for the Cincinnati Bengals.
It turns out Ross and Snoop go way back. Ross, the No. 9 overall draft pick and first for the Bengals, came up in the rapper's Snoop Youth Football League and received coaching from the Doggfather.
"I remember the day I met you man," began Snoop in the video. "You was running through that parking lot at Compton High School. You was just a little kid wanting to play football. And to look at you now and see you about to be drafted into the NFL, I'm so proud of you."
