The 2017 NFL Draft got underway on Thursday, April 27, in a fashion which a considerable number of people imagined it would, when league commissioner Robert Goodell took to the podium. According to a SportsBettingDime.com bet, the over/under for how long Goodell would get booed was at 12 1/2 seconds. They were short by about 36 seconds, as the majority of the Philadelphia crowd of 70,000+, went on with their jeers for the duration of his introduction, which lasted for nearly a minute.

It is no secret that Goodell is not the most well-liked official in football, if not sports. He has been bitten by scandal after scandal, and been called out for everything from the ludicrous dichotomy of how such menial offenses as marijuana use have at times lead to heftier violations than domestic abuse; to the hard line he has taken on the league dress code and touchdown celebration dances. And while his relationship with Patriots owner Robert Kraft was always said to have been good, he's been in the champion's dog house ever since he selected to impose a four-game suspension on Tom Brady, over his participation in the "Deflate Gate" scandal.

With Philly being notorious for bringing a rough crowd, Goodell's appearance set up for a perfect storm that he appeared shaken enough by to hurry up his welcome.
