Going forward the NBA will be hosting a televised ceremony for the league's trophy winners. And hosting the very first NBA Awards will be an artist and avid basketball fan, who has become very well familiar with award shows as they pertain to both music and sports, in Drake.

Fans might recall Drake making his sports awards debut back in 2014, when he headed ESPN's ESPYs and reached into his acting bag to incorporate several popular skits, including his interpretation of Manny Pacquiao, along with his monologues and award presentations. Viewers will only get to know whether the NBA plans on having it's awards ceremony be as loose as other awards have proven to be, when they tune in to TNT for them on June 26.

Giving the league's awards presentation a live ceremonious component would be a major shift from it's past practice of revealing the Most Valuable Player, Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player, via press release on NBA.com. While the National Basketball Players Association’s has held it's own awards show since 2015, never has the league set a date and venue aside to honor those taking home the season's major performance awards.
