Previously, it was reported that President Trump wanted to push forward an executive order that would withhold funds from places that consider themselves "sanctuary cities" for undocumented immigrants. New York City and Los Angeles are two of many that consider themselves sanctuary cities. Now, reports have surfaced saying the president's executive order has been blocked by a San Francisco judge. Trump claimed sanctuary jurisdictions would have caused "immeasurable harm to the American people and to the very fabric of our republic." According to Yahoo, San Francisco and Santa Clara County argued on if the president's executive order violated Constitutional rights. Because of the decision made by the judge, the federal government may call on the U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco to overturn the judge's ruling.

The blocking of the executive order may set the tone for other cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York to continue with their sanctuary status for undocumented immigrants. This serves as another missed opportunity of accomplishment for the president, who already tried to set multiple travel bans against Muslims from six select countries.
