Bill O'Reilly took a moment while returning from his vacation in Italy to address his release from Fox News late Wednesday, April 19. Fans of O'Reilly's "The Factor" will recall the long-time host informing fans that he'd be taking a leave, over a week ago, but at the time insisting it was a regular family vacation. As his followers now know, the network had been nearing a decision to part ways after airing his popular show for more than two decades.

“Over the past 20 years at Fox News,” O’Reilly wrote in his statement. “I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television.”

He then went on to maintain that the charges of sexual harassment that have brought about his downfall are "unfounded," but implied that it comes with the territory and that he has no hard feelings towards Fox. “I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers," he said.
