The tension between the United States and Russian continues to increase, as the U.S. Military sent two F-22 stealth fighters to intercept two Russian bombers near Alaska. The news came from a Pentagon official, who also noted that the Air Force's stealth fighters identified the Russian aircraft as TU-95 long range bombers.

The stealth fighter jets flew alongside the TU-95s before the Russian aircraft changed which they were heading and began to fly away from the United States. According to the Pentagon official, the TU-95 is able to carry nuclear weapons. However, those planes that were seen flying in the incident on Monday did not have any nukes attached. The US stealth fighter jets handled the manner in a "safe and professional" way, and the bombers did not break any kind of international norms or violate United States airspace.

This comes after President Trump previously ordered a missile strike on a Syrian airfield after hearing reports of Bashar Assad's regime using chemical weapons. The chemical attack allegedly killed over 80 civilians in Syria, but was more than likely staged according to Russian Prime Minister Sergei Lavrov. Because of that missile strike on the United States' part, Russia and the U.S. have been at odds ever since.
