Vince Staples always has unique opinions on music and politics, and is not shy when it comes to expressing himself. Now, the rapper is set to be on the cover of Complex magazine and has given some unfiltered thoughts on being a fan and rap beef.

Staples was interviewed by Toure for the piece and was asked his thoughts about the Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj beef. Staples responded by saying, "sh*t is corny." Staples then went on to say, "I don't wanna see people demean one another for no reason when they can have a phone conversation. Especially when they’re actually successful musicians, not like a thing. There is battle rap. I am a fan of that, but as far as the spitefulness of it, 'cause battle rappers are actually like all friends, for the most part, and they write about it, and have fun, and talk about it on Facebook later. It’s real f***in cute, but all that other s*** they can get the f*** out of here. That s*** is corny as f***. It’s like, 'I’m gonna say really hurtful things about you for the sake of hip-hop. Oh.'"

Staples spoke on fandom, saying he doesn't think fans love the artists they claim, and also don't have an understanding of what the artist may be going through at that point in their career. Staples said, "You run into people with jobs all the time that might not perform to the best of their abilities all the time, but, usually, we take into consideration their current mind state, the things that they're currently going through. We do it all the time. We always look at people and say, aw, man. I wonder what's going on with him. They don't seem like they're having a good day."
