In an age when hip hop's trap music sub-genre is comprised of artists in their late teens and early twenties who are bucking the styles of rap that came before them for a more melodic, stripped down, ad lib heavy style, you'd be hard pressed to find many OGs seeking to adapt. Lo and behold Dallas' own, DJ Swade, whose freestyles have been quickly gaining him the kind of exposure that has put many dominating the rap scene today on the map.

DJ Swade spits trap rhymes over trap beats, but unlike Migos or Famous Dex or Lil Uzi Vert, Swade is - [by hip hop standards] - an elder. He may have the cadence fans have gotten used to hearing from the new school, but Swade has an OG swag, prompting a running joke that's been going around him being a XXL 2017 Senior Class nominee.

Everyone from Snoop Dogg to Charlamagne have shared snippets from his DJSwade50 IG page, with CTG dubbing him "52 Savage"; a moniker that seems to have stuck.
