April 7 will mark one year since American Idol aired what was announced to be it's final episode after 15 years on NBC. Now it is being reported that former Idol host Ryan Seacrest is eagerly planning to bring a revamped version of the grand talent show, and he wants to do it bigger than ever. According to a Radar Online exclusive widely cited by the press on Monday, March 27, Seacrest has reportedly offered to bring Kanye West on board to take on the role once filled by stern judge/producer Simon Cowell.

No short list of potential replacements for Cowell has been officially released, but according to sources at Radar Online, West heads the list. It isn't difficult to see some of the qualities Ye might share with Idol's ex-head honcho, as both are known to have long been characterized as perfectionists to a fault. According to the report, NBC is all in on the idea. A proposal to rebuild around hip-hop's superstar rapper is said to have been used by Seacrest as a part of the negotiations process, and in the very least should signify his intentions to think big about what an American Idol come back could look like.

West is said to be considering the gig and currently speaking with those closest to him, as well as some of the show's former hosts [Radar Online names J.Lo], to get an idea of what the pros and cons of committing to American Idol might be. Should he sign on, Kanye would join in the tradition of some of pop music's biggest stars, whom over the years has included Steven Tyler, Harry Connick Jr., J.Lo, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj among others. Seacrest has pretty much seen each of them come and go, as the show's original presenter.
