Instagram is pretty hands on with monitoring and potentially shutting down material they feel does not follow their guidelines. Now, the social media platform is about to take it one step further by blurring what they call "sensitive content" before the user is able to view it. According to The Verge, Instagram's moderation team has to pick out the image that will be deemed "sensitive." From there, the image will be blurred out, and a warning will be place over the original photo. The warning will say "This photo contains sensitive content which some people may find offensive or disturbing." After that, the only you will be able to see the content is if you tap on the photo. Other sites like Twitter have already implemented features like this one.

For those wondering what will get your picture hit with a blurred effect along with a warning, Instagram clarified by giving examples. The platform noted that some examples include "animal rights groups that share content to expose animal testing conditions or animal abuse, or content that raises awareness of humanitarian crises around the world (famine and impact of war on local communities)." Instagram also noted that the blurring of posts was set in place to "build a safe environment" for all users. What are your thoughts on the new feature set to roll out soon?
