It has come to light that a report made by a Texas teen who claimed to have been kidnapped and gang raped by "three black males" was bogus, officials from the Denison Police Department confirmed on Wednesday, March 22.

Denison city police were drawn into a lengthy investigation and search for 18-year-old Breana Harmon Talbott on March 8, after she was reported missing. According to Talbott's fiance, he could not determine her whereabouts after finding her car stranded with its door open and her personal belongings discarded nearby. Hours later Talbott appeared wearing only a pair of underwear and a shirt over her bra, at a local church while it was in service.

Having apparently suffered scratches visible on her body, she informed police that the masked perpetrators abducted and forced her to have sex in a wooded area. However, a report from the medical examiner couldn't corroborate that Talbott had been sexually assaulted, leading authorities to begin questioning her account.

Officials have announced that Talbott came clean on Tuesday, admitting to having staged her disruption of the church service and inflicted the cuts upon herself. She has been arrested and booked on misdemeanor charges for making the false report. “Breana Harmon Talbott’s hoax was also insulting to our community and especially offensive to the African-American community due to her description of the so-called suspects in her hoax,” a spokesperson for Denison police said.
