Three months after executive producer 50 Cent threatened to abandon his Starz hit series Power, on account of having been snubbed at the Golden Globes Awards, it is being reported that not only was he talking in jest, he is currently working on getting the show to the big screen.
According to actor Rotimi Akinosho, known to Power fans as "Dre", the ball is already rolling on a feature film, that he says will bring the backstory to each of the show's stars to cinemas nationwide. "Yes, we are working on it. There is a strong possibility that it is happening," he told Page Six. "Fifty talks about it all the time." Akinosho confirms that the angle the movie would potentially take will present audiences with "a flashback of all the characters when they were young." Back in July Power was renewed for a fourth and fifth season. So even if 50 decides to walk away, the production is a go. The fourth season is slated to air during the summer of 2017.
