New footage from a courtroom security camera in Fort Lauderdale shows Kodak Black’s recent arrest on Feb. 28. He was taken into custody after allegedly violating his house arrest.
While there is no audio or even context as to what transpired in the courtroom, Black, real name Dieuson Octave was handcuffed in the video by Broward Sheriff’s deputy about 20 minutes into the hearing. As he faced the judge, Michael Lynch, he was accompanied by his two lawyers Gary Kollin and Allan Stephen Zamren.
Black is currently being held without bond and has been set to with a judge for another hearing on Friday at 4 p.m.
In an interview that took place on March 1, the lawyers basically state that since the allegations against Black’s are rather “technical violations” instead of a new crime, they expect him to be released very soon.
“We are vigorously defending this, and hopefully it’ll be resolved next week,” Zamren said in a March 1 interview where Kollin was also present.
The hearing originated from two criminal cases where they reached plea agreement that was approved by a judge in August 2016. At that time, Kodak was sentenced to a year of house arrest proceeded by five years of probation, and to complete an anger management program. He was allowed to only leave his residence for work-related purposes, including live performances.
Kodak still faces a charge of criminal sexual conduct in Florence, S.C. He was accused of sexually assaulting a female fan in a hotel room and was out on bail after being arrested. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
