Fans of the Golden State Warriors found it difficult to concentrate after the first quarter of Tuesday night's [February 28] game in D.C., with the image of Kevin Durant hopping off of the court on one leg fresh in their minds. His Warriors teammates apparently also struggled to stay the course, eventually dropping their 10th game of the season by a score of 112-108.

Durant exited the game after teammate Zaza Pachulia was forced off of his feet by Wizards center Marcin Gortat, and subsequently fell backwards into his left leg. Initially diagnosed a hyper-extended knee, the Warriors would learn after testing that Durant had suffered a sprained MCL and bone bruise. He has been ruled out indefinitely, with the expectation that he may return, but will miss at least four weeks recovering from the injury.

In Durant's absence, Golden State is expected to bring back veteran swing man Matt Barnes, who played in Golden State from 2006-08. Barnes was set to come on board to play through a brief 10-day contract, with the team having agreed to sign Jose Calderon, who was waived by the Lakers earlier this week. But those plans have changed since the Durant injury. The Warriors are now intent on signing Barnes through the season, and will sign Calderon to a season long deal so that he gets the money he was promised, but will promptly waive him thereafter. Barnes posted to Instagram after hearing the news, calling it "the happiest day of my life."

"It's a dream come true!" Barnes would tell The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears about his return. "I feel like I helped start something in '07, and now I'm coming back to help finish it."
