Eminem just may have been telling the truth when in "Sing for the Moment" he disputes club bouncer John Guerrera's claim that he was pistol whipped by the rapper in 2000, spitting: "That was a fist that hit you!" As credible a source as can be on the matter vouched for Em, when during a recent appearance on Shade 45, boxing great Oscar De La Hoya recounted once seeing him in action.

"Man, he has some moves," De La Hoya told DJ Whoo Kid. With a boxing craze streaking through hip hop in the aftermath of the Chris Brown vs. Soulja Boy hype, it was fitting that the subject came up, especially seeing how footage of Eminem boxing is one of the videos that gained life out of it on Youtube.

Oscar recalled being shown one of the clips of Em displaying his skill, by the late great Emanuel Steward himself. It was while training under Steward, who was a boxing staple in Detroit through his work running the Kronk Gym and molding such greats as Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko, that De La Hoya learned he had also worked with the great rapper. And from what he was able to observe, the Mexican champ was impressed. "He looked really good actually. With a lot of power," he said.

De La Hoya was on hand at Shade45's studios to promote his upcoming Cinco de Mayo fight card, featuring a main event which will pit Canelo Alvarez against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Eminem affiliate 50 Cent also came up in the conversation, with De La Hoya reminiscing on having stood across from him when they co-promoted an event in which 50 represented James Kirkland in his match against Canelo. 50 himself has long been associated with boxing, dating back to a brief amateur stint before pursuing rap in the late 90's. Like Oscar, he remained connected to boxing through his promotion company, for a time. But boxing is Oscar's world, and so his Golden Boy Promotions has become one of the elite companies in the sport. Promoting is his main focus, so much so, that even in discussing Eminem his mind begins to process the possibility of getting a rapper in the ring.

"We can do a charity box off together. I can come down in weight," De La Hoya proposed. When DJ Whoo Kid jokingly compared the idea to the now defunct plans to get Brown and Soulja in the ring, he contested, saying, "No, no. Eminem can fight. He can fight."
