A teacher from Scottsdale, Arizona resigned on Monday, February 20, after pressure on the school and district administrations mounted over tweets she put out that vary in their degree of vitorol towards immigrants. In one of the postings sent out by Bonnie Verne, she went as far as to propose that the government deal with immigration by murdering those residing here without legal status.

"Why deport? Just kill them" Verne is cited as once tweeting. "Or we can just put a bullet in their head immediately," she'd continue. The Pardes Jewish Day School principal would go on to send a letter home to parents to inform them of their severance of Verne. Parents expressed the same shock many who would reach out to the school via email and Facebook in order to demand that Pardes deal with the incident. Verne is said to have acknowledged writing the Tweets and supplied no excuses for the nature in which they were written.

"Mrs. Verne was a veteran teacher with twelve years of exemplary service and was appreciated by students and parents alike. She assures us that these types of remarks have never found their way into her classroom and we have no reason to think otherwise," the principal defended, before giving details on who the school would be moving on to. "Having identified a superb replacement teacher, we are confident that our standards of excellence will be maintained in the 3rd grade and throughout the school," Principal Kessler said.
