Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather seemed pretty adamant after his September 2015 win over Andre Berto that his time in the ring had come to an end. Rumors have been swirling, however, that the 39-year-old champ will be donning his gloves one last time to take on Irish MMA brawler Conor McGregor. The hearsay was given extra credence after ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith revealed Tuesday on First Take that finalized plans for the fight were "very, very close." Despite Smith's insistence, Money Mayweather is sticking to the story that he's a retired boxer.

"Although there has been several rumors circulating thru media suggesting that I will have an upcoming fight, I'd like to set that record straight and state that there has been no deals made on my behalf..." Mayweather said in a Tuesday evening Instagram post.
