Talib Kweli believes the problems faced by disenfranchised Americas will not go away until the people rise up and assume power in the system. "We gotta raise out own candidates. Grassroots candidates man, that's what it is," the Brooklyn emcee said during his appearance on Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning on Friday, February 10. It was a conclusion he reached as the man sitting next to him caught his breath after delivering a passionate plea for Black people and poor White people to begin getting real with themselves and one another, about the need to confront the ruling system as their common enemy. "My vote is for the ghost. Styles P for president," said Kweli.

"White people, black people, whoever is out there; you live with that lie everyday. You sit there and like, act like you don't know Trump was racist, like you don't see Sessions is racist, like you don't see Bannon is racist. Like why are we even lying to each other? Like, you don't give a s**t," Styles had just gotten through exclaiming.

Earlier in the interview, the Lox rapper revealed his criticisms of Obama, blasting the former President on his positions concerning mass surveillance and the protection of companies' ability to sell genetically modified food without informing buyers that what they've bought isn't completely natural. Kweli chimed in with a couple of critiques of his own, including Obama's record number of deportations and drone strikes on the battlefield, issues which they cite as having been ignored by his Black supporters. After reminding listeners that even someone as likable as Obama becomes corrupted by the seat of power in a corrupt system, they went in on Trump and the need for Americans who find themselves in opposition to his platform to get their house in order.

"I don't care what your G pass is. I don't care if you a Blood, Crip, Latin gang banger. I don't care if you're a bus driver, a 9-5'er. You better be involved. If you White and you Hip Hop you a n***a too, so you better be involved too," Styles said in the final moments of the interview. "You can't stand by and sit here and watch and be quiet."
