The federal judge responsible for blocking the Trump administration's executive order to ban and restrict the travel of refugees and citizens of majority Muslim countries apparently has a history of weighing on the side of the under-represented. In one case, which is now receiving a heap of attention from the media, Judge James Robart is recorded declaring that "black lives matter" while ruling against the Seattle Police Department.

“According to FBI statistics, police shootings resulting in deaths involved 41 percent black people, despite being only 20 percent of the population living in those cities,” Robart is recalled citing before the courtroom in August of 2016. He had been defending the grounds of a lawsuit filed against the force by the Obama administration. “41 percent of the casualties, 20 percent of the population. Black lives matter." Robart didn't make any friends in the police union over his stance, nor did it receive a positive response from the Blue Lives Matter organization, which lamented with a response that read: “He proposed changes will have a major effect on all union members, including discipline being investigated and determined by non-law enforcement investigators. The changes make it faster and easier to discipline an officer if the public believes that the officer was wrong, whether or not that was actually the case.”

Judge Robart made headlines on Friday, February 3, when he slapped the administration's ruling with a restraining order. After his state of Washington launched a challenge against the order, Minnesota got on board and also threatened to sue. As most would expect, Trump wouldn't allow the ruling to slide without firing back. He would take to Twitter on Saturday morning and retort that "the opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!"
