Samsung caught a lot of bad press last year, as news broke of their Galaxy Note 7 cellphone exploding on their users. Some of the explosions caused injuries for the users, which caused Samsung to recall the phones twice. According to reports, the multiple recalls of the phone caused Samsung to lose almost five billion dollars. Now, Samsung has taken to the press to say that the Galaxy Note 7 fires were due to battery flaws. The company released a report stating that two separate battery malfunctions caused some of the Note 7 phones to overheat and catch fire. In the first batch of phones that were recalled, the battery was too large for the phone's casing, which caused the device to overheat.

From there, Samsung used a different battery supplier while in a rush to get out their new phones. However, the battery from the new supplier had a defect that made the phones overheat as well, resulting in another recall by the company. The second recall consisted of Samsung recalling all Note 7 phones and doing away with the model in general. Since then, the company has pointed out that they have developed a new battery check system to make sure their new phones don't end up like the Note 7.
