Anti-Trump protests waged on well after the inauguration, with windows of D.C. businesses being smashed and a limo set on fire. According to the NY Daily News, and 217 protesters were arrested amidst the chaos, with police using pepper spray and concussion grenades to control the crowds.

District of Columbia Interim Police Chief Peter Newsham commented on the situation, telling the media, “There were a number of locations where these folks felt the need to destroy property in our city. It’s disappointing to us that this had to happen.”
