2 Chains is the latest artist to turn down an invitation to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration next week. The Atlanta rapper took to Instagram on Friday, January 13, to tell of how he was contacted to join the lineup of singers who've confirmed that they will help usher in the 45th U.S. President. But he just couldn't do it, he says.

"Trump and them calls management, and I know they're only doing this because they can't get nobody else. And they want me to perform for the inauguration," said 2 Chainz.  "But I had to say nah, no matter how much money it was."

Before revealing that he received an invitation to the January 20 event, 2 Chainz expressed disappointment that he was never among the artists invited to join President Obama, throughout his 8-years in office. He concluded his message voicing a declaration that others have gone public to say, including Charles Barkley, who thanked Obama for inviting him to the White House during an episode of Inside The NBA earlier this week and imagined it likely that he'd never return.

"I probably won't be going to the White House no time soon. That's why I tried to go then," 2 Chainz said.
