A&E recently announced an upcoming docuseries called, "Generation KKK," which will focus on four families in the KKK and various family members' attempts to break free of the Klan's influence.  Shortly thereafter, A&E received a significant amount of criticism on social media, as commentators accused the network of normalizing the hateful attitudes of the KKK as opposed to exposing them.

As a response to the criticism, A&E officials have announced that the title will be changed from, "Generation KKK," to, "Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America."

The Hollywood Reporter learned that A&E has collaborated with civil rights groups for the series, including the Anti-Defamation League and Color of Change, one of America's largest organizations dedicated to racial justice.

Rashad Robinson of Color of Change said, "We are pleased to see that the network is taking seriously concerns that the show—newly titled Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America—required important additional components, such as specific in-show educational context and content and a post-show town hall, as we both want to work together to ensure that it did not normalize and humanize racism and white supremacy."
