Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Jean Pollard, could get out of prison sooner than we expected.

Earlier this week, the 22-year-old Brooklyn MC appeared in court for his alleged attempt to smuggle a shank into Rikers Island.  In June of 2015, Shmurda was re-arrested in prison after his girlfriend allegedly slipped him a shank during a visit.  Kimberly Rousseau was caught taking a black latex glove out of her bra and handing it to Shmurda, according to prison officials.  A prison guard confiscated the object and discovered a sharpened metal object inside.  The couple pleaded not guilty to the contraband charge.

Shmurda is now facing up to seven years in prison because of the reported act; prosecutors, however, have offered him a plea deal that could significantly reduce the sentence.

According to TMZShmurda is being urged by his attorney Alex Spiro, to plead guilty to "attempted promoting prison contraband."  If he accepts the deal, Bobby will get one to four years in prison, which would run concurrently with his existing seven-year sentence for conspiracy charges, adding no extra time to his bid.  Shmurda previously agreed to plead guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, despite his claims that the gun was a prop for a music video.  Shmurda later attempted to renegotiate that plea deal, claiming his lawyer forced him into it, but the judge denied his hearing and handed out the seven-year sentence.

It's unclear if Shmurda will take the plea deal in this case, but he must make a decision before his Jan. 7 hearing.
