A Nevada teenager is in critical condition after he was shot by a campus police officer in the courtyard of his Reno school on Wednesday, December 7.

Hug High school was put on lockdown, and students, many of whom remained shaken, were granted early dismissal after witnessing their classmate struck down by a single bullet. The 14-year-old student, whose name has not been disclosed, is reported to have lost his cool and pulled out a knife after he was involved in a fist fight. Video of the moments leading up to the officer firing his gun, shows the teen waving the weapon and lunging towards some of the students encircling him, as the officer commands him to drop it.

The incident was captured in two separate recordings, in the first of which he paces around holding the knife with his mouth bloodied from the earlier scrap. In the second clip, he is recorded gripping his neck, as he lay curled up on the ground. There is reportedly no footage of the exact moment the gunshot went off.
