Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes is wanted for questioning in connection with an assault that took place at a New York City nightclub on Sunday night, December 4.
The NYPD confirmed that it is investigating an incident, first reported by TMZ to involve the choking of a woman by a man at Avenue nightclub in Manhattan. An investigation is ongoing and police have not provided details, but according to TMZ reports, the alleged victim is believed to have accused someone in Barnes entourage of attacking her.
Video has surfaced to show Barnes leaving the club along with teammate DeMarcus Cousins. In the recording, Barnes appears to be cool and composed, but Cousins does make remarks which would indicate that an altercation took place. At one point while shaking his fist, Cousins states: "Aye yo the n***a was trying to choke Matt. I hit the s**t out this n***a."
