Derek Jeter lent his support to the silent protests in the NFL sparked by the San Francisco 49er's quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

While presenting at the 20th-anniversary celebration for his Turn 2 Foundation, Jeter said, "If you have a platform to speak up and you choose to do so, then that's your prerogative". The former Yankees superstar went on to encourage people with a platform to use it to "impact people's lives in a positive way."

Many NFL players have joined Kaepernick in kneeling during the national anthem since his initial act of protest in August.
