The death of Staten Island resident Eric Garner by the NYPD sparked many protests because of the brutal force exerted by the cops on a man proclaiming that he could not breathe. Along with numerous witnesses in the neighborhood being present while Eric Garner was being handled by the police, video footage of Garner being choked by the police surfaced. Despite the clear-cut footage that showed Garner's life being taken, no charges were filed against Daniel Pantaleo--the police officer who choked Garner to death.

Now, reports have surfaced that the Justice Department plan to actively pursue charges against Pantaleo. Previously, the Justice Department reportedly removed and replaced all the lawyers and FBI agents who were investigating Eric Garner's death. Officer Daniel Pantaleo is still receiving overtime pay despite being stripped of his gun and badge during the investigation.
