Jay Z reportedly made a $40 million bid to snatch up all of Prince’s unreleased music.

TMZ reports that the Roc Nation head met with the late singer’s sister Tyka and her husband Maurice Phillips several weeks ago to discuss possibly purchasing the material. Sources close to Prince said Jay Z offered $40 million for the music, but no deal has been struck yet. Prince’s sister cannot sign off on the music until she gets permission from his other siblings and the trust managing his estate. Jay is also still attempting to get the overall deal for streaming rights for his TIDAL platform. He’s facing fierce competition for the rights and will most likely have to shell out a lot of money for them, according to TMZ.

Aside from his unreleased music, Prince's vast catalogue will be turned into a 40-track greatest hits collection titled Prince 4Ever which will be released next year. Warner Brothers Records is at the helm of the project and announced it a few days back. Prince 4Ever will also feature a 12-page book of photographs that will include flicks from the eras when he had his biggest hits. A follow-up to the greatest hits will also be released in 2017.
