DMX came to tears while expressing his gratitude for a couple of police officers, at an event in Yonkers over the weekend. The Yonkers rapper was in his hometown to perform at an annual "Tough man Competition" between the local Police and Fire Departments, on Friday night, October 21].  He set a moment aside to call to memory a time in which the officers came to his rescue as he lay unconscious in a hotel parking lot this past February.

"To go from at one point running from the police to get away from s**t [sic] to having those same police save my life. True heroes," X said, at one point becoming emotional as he called them up to be acknowledged. "True heroes. And I'm not speaking from what somebody else told me, or someone else's opinion. This is my personal experience. This is my personal experience. The officers that I used to run from when I was f**king up, turned out to be the one's that saved my life."

The officers on hand as he recalled the February 8th incident, were the same officers who tended to DMX [Earl Simmons] after coming upon his unidentified body when responding to a call about a man who was passed out on the premises of a Yonkers Ramada Inn. They are reported to have administered oxygen and chest compressions while escorting him to Saint Joseph's Medical Center, where he would be nursed back to health.

The estimated 2,000 guests in attendance at the charity event could be heard cheering their native rapper on as he searched for words to thank the servicemen. He would follow up his acknowledgment with a performance of "Ruff Ryders' Anthem," helping bring life to the building as they enjoyed a fight card that helped raise $80,000.
