Large groups of juveniles unleashed a wave of flash mob style attacks on students at Temple University on Friday where they beat down girls, tossed a cop to the ground and even punched a horse.

The groups consisted of between 20 to 100 young people each, according to NBC10. The attacks lasted for around two hours and left six Temple students injured. One attacker even ran up on a police officer on horseback and punched the animal in the face twice. Another officer was knocked off her patrol bike and tossed to the ground. The two teenagers who attacked the officers were apprehended. One student was walking with her boyfriend when the melee started. “I somehow got to the other side of Oxford Street by the time they got me to the ground. I remember shoes coming for my face and after that I heard other kids from the group saying ‘Yo chill, yo chill, it’s just a girl’ and they pulled my attackers off me,” she said to The Tab.

One of the more brutal attacks happened when a group of around 30 beat down three teens including an 18-year-old girl and two 19-year-old boys. The girl’s debit card was robbed and she suffered scrapes and cuts to her legs. The boys had an iPhone, wallet, backpack and Bluetooth speaker stolen from them. Ray Betzner, a spokesman for Temple said the attackers played a “cat-and-mouse game” with officers.” 50 juveniles were taken into custody but only 4 have been formally charged at this time. Police and Temple officials are currently investigating the incident.
